Q. I already have a domain name, can i use it with a healthhosts website?

Yes you can, your domain name can easily be transferred across to us. After you sign up for a website with us we will give you the simple transfer instructions and if you get stuck we are here to help

Q. If i transfer over to you will i experience any downtime?

No, you will not experience any downtime. Before we transfer your domain name over to us we make sure your website is setup on our servers and ready to go, so when the transfer takes place its seamless and smooth.

Q. Can I have more than one domain name pointing to my website?

Yes, you can have as many domains as you like pointing to your website. Although you have one main domain name on the site we can add as many additional domains to your site as aliases.

Q. Do I get an email address with the website

Yes you do, we can setup for you whatever email address you like, for example here are a few of the most commonly used:

Q. What methods of payment do you accept

All payments are taken from the credit/debit card you use when you initially sign up, you can change these card details whenever you like through our online billing system.

  • Cheque Payments - We only accept cheque payments if the website is paid for 1 year in advance

Q. My listing in Google has disappeared completely, i was on the first/second page

This happens with new domains, the domain has not been fully integrated within googles databases, and at the moment you are seeing results from a database where your domain is not in... it takes time for all their database to synchronise new domains fully... see here for an example of what your experiencing:

Q. My text is displaying with odd formatting and i am getting funny characters/code showing on my page.

This is because you have copied text from another document which has lots of other formatting associated with it, most probably like a word document or similar or maybe from another website.

When you are copying and pasting into your pages the text needs to be clean and free from any other formatting, and then you can add your own formatting when you have the clean text in your page, copying from MS word etc can have undesirable results on your web pages.

So what you need to do if you are copying from other sources is either:

  1. Paste the text into notepad firstly and then copy it from notepad and then past into your page, this will remove any formatting on the text, all pc's have notepad installed you can find it by going to: Start - All Programmes - Accessories - Notepad
     
  2. In the text editor tool bar there are 3 paste buttons, the middle one will paste any text as plain text, this also will remove any formatting, see the image below for what it looks like, when you hover over the correct button you will see the tool tip pop up "Paste as plain text"

Q. Orange/Wanadoo broadband users and sending out email

Orange does not allow outgoing email to be sent by any one else apart from their servers, so if you use orange for your broadband connection you will need to use their outgoing smtp mail server which is smtp.orangehome.co.uk
