Nominet. the UK domain registry is bringing out a shorter version of the UK domain. Currently all domains are .co.uk or .org.uk the new change will enable you to have just .uk
for example we currently have healthhosts.co.uk with the new changes we will also be able to register healthhosts.uk
If you already own the domain with the extension .co.uk or .org.uk you will be given the opportunity to also register the .uk version of your domain, and this will be held open for you for a period of 5 years.
All domains that are not associated with .co.uk or .org.uk will be available on a first come first served basis. The new domain extension will be available from summer 2014
